Favorite Quote:    "If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."
- Lilla Watson, Murri Activist and Educator

Jamie is a doctoral candidate in Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona and has worked for many years as a diversity and inclusion consultant and sexual violence prevention educator. As the founder and Director of Education at CivilSchools, Jamie works with school communities around the United States to empower all community members in building schools that are safe and inclusive for everyone. He lives in Tucson, AZ with his partner Julia, their child Sunniva, and their lovable pit bull Violet.

Why CIRCLE?     My reason for engaging the work that CIRCLE does year round is bound up in my favorite quote - so long as we see our liberations as collective, then it's possible to create movements for justice. As a person with a great deal of privilege, I must understand my deep commitments and investments in social justice work, and CIRCLE is an amazing place to explore those commitments and investments.

Favorite book related to inclusiveness:     "Race, Whiteness, and Education" by Zeus Leonardo - Leonardo's work inspires me more than any other to directly address the ways that I as a White person have a responsibility to divest from systems of oppression to realize a just world.
